What to Expect

Your First Session

Please arrive 15 minutes early to your first appointment. This extra time allows us to connect, answer your questions, and help your nervous system settle into a sense of safety. When you feel comfortable and trust the process, the therapeutic work becomes more effective. Strong rapport creates meaningful outcomes.

Session Formats

Hypnotherapy Sessions (1 hour)

You'll experience a deeply relaxed, focused state while remaining fully in control and aware. Your conscious mind quiets while your subconscious becomes more accessible, allowing us to identify and reframe limiting beliefs, release unwanted patterns, and reinforce empowering thoughts and behaviors.

You might experience vivid mental imagery, a sense of time passing differently, or profound insights emerging. Some people feel physical sensations like warmth, tingling, or heaviness - all signs your nervous system is shifting into deeper relaxation. Throughout the session, you can speak, move, or open your eyes if needed.

Most clients describe feeling calm, peaceful, and surprisingly clear afterward - as if accessing a wiser part of themselves they didn't know was there.

EMDR Intensive Sessions (1.5 hours)

You'll remain fully aware while we identify specific memories, beliefs, or experiences contributing to your current distress. I'll guide you through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or tones) while you notice what surfaces - images, thoughts, emotions, or body sensations.

You might be surprised by what emerges: new insights, forgotten details, or shifts in how memories feel in your body. Some describe it as watching a movie that gradually loses its emotional charge. Others notice physical tension dissolving, breath deepening, or lightness emerging.

Sessions can feel intense as we process difficult material, but many people report feeling noticeably lighter by the end. You may experience emotional releases and feel tired afterward - the good kind of tired that comes after meaningful work.

All sessions are conducted virtually for your comfort and convenience.

During Your Session

Both approaches are collaborative - you're an active participant in your healing, not a passive recipient. My role is to create safety, provide guidance, and help your nervous system do what it naturally wants to do: process, integrate, and move toward balance.

Your goals guide the work. We'll decide together during your first session and adjust anytime based on what feels most important. This is your journey - I meet you exactly where you are.

 

After Your Sessions

Immediate Changes

You might notice shifts right away: a triggering memory now feels neutral, physical symptoms ease, sleep improves, or you feel a lightness you haven't experienced in years.

Gradual Integration

Over days and weeks, you'll likely find yourself responding differently to situations that used to trigger you - choosing calm responses over automatic reactions, setting boundaries without overthinking, or simply not being bothered by things that once consumed you. Your internal dialogue shifts toward more self-compassion. You catch yourself thinking and behaving differently without consciously trying.

 

How Change Feels

For habit change (like quitting smoking or emotional eating), urges may simply not show up as strongly. When they do, you feel equipped to let them pass. The compulsion loosens; behaviors feel less automatic. This isn't white-knuckled willpower - your relationship with the pattern has fundamentally shifted.

 

Relational & Physical Shifts

Relationships often improve - you're more present, less reactive, better at boundaries. Chronic tension releases. Your breath deepens naturally. Your body feels safer, more at home in itself.

 

The Key Marker

The issue that brought you in becomes less central to your life. It's not avoidance - it simply matters less. Your brain has reorganized around it. Where there was once a raw wound, there's now integrated scar tissue: evidence of what happened, but no longer painful to touch.

The most common feedback: "I didn't even notice the change until someone pointed it out" or "I just realized I haven't thought about [the issue] in weeks." That's how you know the work has integrated - it becomes your new normal, not something you consciously maintain.

 

Timeline & Approach

The speed of change varies. Those who approach with openness typically notice benefits faster, though starting with skepticism or fear is completely okay - it might just take a few sessions for your nervous system to feel safe enough to engage fully.
